Accomplishments

Service

is a core value of the Student Government. As such our organization exemplifies this value by making a positive impact on behalf of all Bobcats. This is a list of recent accomplishments we have made on behalf of students or to better our university.

 


2020-2021

Launched the Student-Police Liaison Program for better student-law enforcement understanding.

2019-2020

Implemented the Menstrual Hygiene Program and the first diversity week on campus.

2017-2018

Brought Open Educational Resources to Texas State and launched the Swipe Out Hunger program.

2016-2017

Helped form the Texas Student Government Coalition and established Bobcats United Townhall.

Created the Adopt-A-Spot Program and allowed the Supreme Court to review parking appeals.

2015-2016

Supported a referendum to expand the LBJ Student Center.

2014-2015

Made the STAR Grant permanent and piloted a Student Activities Fund.

2013-2014

Reorganized Student Government, renamed it, and adjusted election times.

2012-2013

Created parking passes for TAs, improved student veterans' space, and funded new buses through a referendum.

2011-2012

Commissioned a report on the LBJ Student Center’s state for renovation plans.

2010-2011

Installed a new sculpture at the LBJ Student Center.

2009-2010

Started the Freshman Council and opposed a campus smoking ban.

2008-2009

Sponsored the creation of Cat Camp.

2007-2008

Established bookstore grants, built a Starbucks in the LBJ Student Center, installed a Bobcat Statue, and advocated for D1 athletics.

2006-2007

Created a $200,000 Student Government Scholarship.

2005-2006

Secured funding for the renovated Student Recreation Center.

2004-2005

Instituted fall-to-spring rollover meal trades.

2003-2004

Worked with the Texas Legislature to change the university's name to Texas State University-San Marcos.
