Graduate House

The Graduate House of Representatives, or Grad House, is a body of student government that represents graduate students at Texas State. The House consists of two representatives from each academic college. Representatives are nominated by the Dean of each college.

Attend a Meeting

Grad House meetings are held in-person and online via Zoom on a biweekly basis during the fall and spring semesters. All Texas State University graduate students are welcome and encouraged to attend. 

Mission and Vision

Our mission is to serve as the primary student government advocate for all graduate students at Texas State University by listening and acting transparently as a liaison between the students, the university, and surrounding communities. We strive to do this by:

  • Maintaining collaborative relationships with faculty, administrators, and the communities in Round Rock and San Marcos
  • Remedying graduate students' concerns to allow for their personal success
  • Preserving the rights of graduate students as outlined in Texas State University policies
  • Serving graduate students with integrity, honor, and enthusiasm
  • Providing needed services to the graduate community

  • Graduate House Representatives serve as a body of student government for graduate students. Representatives are responsible for addressing issues directly related to graduate students and also volunteer at various events held on campus for graduate students. Additionally, the House hosts events for graduate students. 

  • Representatives are appointed by the Dean of each college. There are two Representatives from each college. If you are interested in becoming a representative, talk to your graduate advisor. 

  • All House meetings are open to the public. 

  • There are three options to bring an issue or concern to the House:

    (1) Students may address the House during the Public Forum for a maximum of two minutes. Public Forum is limited to four students. 

    (2) Email the House Leader or the House general email and request to be a guest speaker. Guest Speakers will have the opportunity to speak for 15 minutes (including any question and answer session the speaker may need). 

    (3) Send a description of your issue or concern to us using our Suggestion Box. Your concern will be addressed at the next meeting and you will receive a response via email. 

  • Graduate students who are not currently appointed Representatives of the Graduate House can become involved by joining one of the subcommittees.
